Choosing the Best Weather Expert for Your Next Case or Claim

Contributed by James Bria, CCM, CompuWeather Sr. Forensic Meteorologist, Weather Expert & Certified Consulting Meteorologist

There are many qualified weather experts to choose from out there, so how do you know which one to pick. What sets weather experts apart? Luckily, a certification is available which highlights professional meteorologists with a high level of technical competence, character and experience. This qualification is called a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) and was introduced in 1957 to establish and maintain a high level of professional competency and to provide a basis on which a client seeking assistance on meteorological problems can be confident of mature, competent and ethical professional counsel. In order to achieve this high standard of competency, a meteorologist must pass a rigorous three part test. The first portion of the test is to submit a forensic weather analysis highlighting the consulting work of a meteorologist, the second is a written examination that is meant to test general knowledge of concepts in meteorology and the last is an oral examination in front of the board of certified consulting meteorologists.

CompuWeather has numerous meteorologists that have achieved the level of Certified Consulting Meteorologist. We recognize that there are many tough decisions to make when hiring an expert. CompuWeather’s meteorologists have achieved this certification in order to make your decision easier. You can rest assured when using CompuWeather that you are hiring professional meteorologists that are experienced and come with a high level of technical competence in their field.
